Summer Fun and a Free Giveaway

School is just about out for everyone now, YAY!  Summer’s here, filled with warm sunny days and hopefully some relaxation…  We’ve got swimmers and divers in the family, so we will be spending lots of time at the pool.

If you’d looking for a fun activity to do with or without your kids, come join my summer mini-album workshop. It is open to anyone 12 years old or above and would make a great mother/daughter activity, or a great crafting session for moms by themselves or to send your daughter to by herself.  We’ll decorate the Hip Pics album to create a fun little album for those summer snaps, beach trips, vacations, camp experiences, etc.

A Different Take on the Japanese Blossom Card

Check out this variation on the Japanese Blossom card from my recent Feathers ‘n Flowers Workshop:

photo-10

As usual, one of the workshop participants, Kanako, decided to change it up a little, and I love her results!  She flipped the Fundamentals Cardstock over to reveal the glossy resist hexagon pattern and sponged it lightly with Sorbet ink to bring out the pattern.  The warmer look goes well with the card.  She also colored the flower in shades of purple which nicely complements the purple rectangle on the card. Finally, she used a 1/8″ white satin ribbon in place of the metallic Baker’s twine used on the original.  I really liked her changes and wanted to give a shout-out to her artistic variations on the original card.

In other news….

Close To My Heart has just released their Retiring List. You can find it on my CTMH website under “SHOP” to see the list of items alongside pictures of each item. Most notably, five of the colors in the Whimsy collection are retiring, along with their ink pads, markers, card stock and re-inkers…  Creme Brûlée, Buttercup, Twilight, Sky and Blush.  I will be sad to see some of these go as Blush is my favorite pink to date and Twilight looks great with almost anything! I know they will make way for five new colors that are spot on-trend though, so I’m excited for that.  I”m hoping for a teal color and perhaps a cantaloupe type color.  What colors would you love to see?  Shoot me an email at the address listed below and if you’re right there’s a free stamp set in it for you!  The new Idea Book goes live on August 1st, so check back in them to find out….

In the meantime….

Here’s another money saving special for you: In honor of our founder and CEO Jeanette Lynton’s 30-year anniversary in the stamping and scrapbooking industry, when you place an order totaling $50 during the month of June, you can add your choice of 1 of 6 great gift collections to your order for just $30!

Lollydoodling along….

Just in time for the arrival of the new Idea Book next month, I’ve finished layouts with the last paper pack in the Spring 2014 Idea Book: Lollydoodle. I originally thought these papers and patterns leant themselves to card making more than scrapbooking….. Then I fell in love with the layout on page 105 of the Idea Book, showcasing the “Windy Day” stamp set. I came up with a matching layout for the right hand page and here you have it:

I went on to create four other Lollydoodle layouts. Each has it’s own color theme and feel. Matching the papers in the Lollydoodle pack together in the right way results in some very girly, flowery pages while other pages end up being more blue/green/gray:

I’ve added 9 extra sheets of card stock plus sparkle paper to make these five fun layouts. Also included are  lots of coordinating embellishments:  Awesome stamped images, flamingo dots, the Lollydoodle assortment of faceted adhesive buttons and embroidery threads.

If you’d like to make these pages for yourself, let me know and I’ll prepare a kit for you. You can join us on June 22nd or complete them at home yourself. I will precut and stamp all papers for you.

When:  Sunday, June 22nd, 2 pm

Cost: $30

The kit can also be ordered to go so that you may assemble the pages at home if you are unable to join a workshop. Contact me to arrange pick up or the postage amount.
