Back in 2008, I had created a Calendar Club.  Here’s a few ideas on how I had used these to create toppers to our 12 x 12 calendar as well as the perpetual (we don’t sell this one anymore).  Just remember I had to dig to find these photos and it’s an idea … but can be used for random stamping, cards, details on scrapbook pages and so much more.  I love these and will never part with these sets.

Look at the 4th of July one.  I love stamping images individually in a variety of colors vertically and/or hozisontally.  The one for February was in one color (chocolate) stamped randomly on patterned paper.  You could also arrange your stamps on a large block and stamp them again and again to create your own background paper.  So much fun!

Below is a photo of the variety of stamp categories for you to look at HERE on my WEBSITE.

A Different Take on the Japanese Blossom Card

Check out this variation on the Japanese Blossom card from my recent Feathers ‘n Flowers Workshop:

As usual, one of the workshop participants, Kanako, decided to change it up a little, and I love her results!  She flipped the Fundamentals Cardstock over to reveal the glossy resist hexagon pattern and sponged it lightly with Sorbet ink to bring out the pattern.  The warmer look goes well with the card.  She also colored the flower in shades of purple which nicely complements the purple rectangle on the card. Finally, she used a 1/8″ white satin ribbon in place of the metallic Baker’s twine used on the original.  I really liked her changes and wanted to give a shout-out to her artistic variations on the original card.

In other news….

Close To My Heart has just released their Retiring List. You can find it on my CTMH website under “SHOP” to see the list of items alongside pictures of each item. Most notably, five of the colors in the Whimsy collection are retiring, along with their ink pads, markers, card stock and re-inkers…  Creme Brûlée, Buttercup, Twilight, Sky and Blush.  I will be sad to see some of these go as Blush is my favorite pink to date and Twilight looks great with almost anything! I know they will make way for five new colors that are spot on-trend though, so I’m excited for that.  I”m hoping for a teal color and perhaps a cantaloupe type color.  What colors would you love to see?  Shoot me an email at the address listed below and if you’re right there’s a free stamp set in it for you!  The new Idea Book goes live on August 1st, so check back in them to find out….

In the meantime….

Join a Pajama Party!

Mark Your Calendars for a Pajama Party on January 30

Close To My Heart is doing it again. They are teaming up with Big Picture Classes to bring us another Pajama Party. It will be on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm Eastern Time.

The event is free, but if you want to participate in the chat, complete challenges, download files or enter to win prizes, you must log on that night. If you are not registered at Big Picture Classes (registration is free and you will not receive any unwanted mail), you will find a link to register at the Pajama Party page. You can register today and just sign in that night.

Here is the layout we will be creating:

The layout is the Bottom Border—Title™ pattern from the Reflections™ Scrapbook Program (9037).

Based on the supply list, and the photo above, it looks like the cardstock colors used on this layout are: Cranberry (2 sheets), Hollyhock, Cotton Candy and White Daisy (you might want to wait to cut any paper until the night of the Pajama Party just in case… ).

The (3) photos are 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″.

You will use one 12″ x 12″ [Cranberry] cardstock for your base.

You will need the following pieces of cardstock (the labels in blue on the photo above correspond to these letters):
A  2 1/2″ x 12″ [White Daisy]
B  9″ x 6″ [Cranberry]
C  7″ x 12″ [Hollyhock]
D 5″ x 12″ [Cotton Candy]

One piece of washi tape covers a scrap of White Daisy (upper left and above the photo on the left). A scrap of Hollyhock is stamped and used in the lower left. “Lucky” and the flower are stamped on White Daisy; the cardstock was cut using the Artiste cartridge.

If you would like to create this layout exactly as pictured above while watching the Pajama Party, the supplies you will need are:

  • G1066 Workshops on the Go™ Sarita Scrapbooking Kit — for the stamp set
  • X5935 Adventure Cardstock Combo Pack, or
  • 1272 Cranberry Cardstock
  • 1246 Hollyhock Cardstock
  • X5760 Cotton Candy Cardstock, plus
  • 1385 White Daisy Cardstock
  • Z2106 Blush Exclusive Inks™ Pad
  • Z2170 Ruby Exclusive Inks™ Pad
  • Z1826 Hollyhock Zipper Lace
  • Z1807 Pink Glitter Gems
  • Z1850 Lagoon Houndstooth Washi Tape
  • Z1294 Sanding Kit
  • Z1151 3-D Foam Tape

Of course, you can make this layout uniquely your own by substituting other colors or stamp sets using supplies you have on hand at home.

The Sarita WOTG stamp set which was used in the layout pictured above is no longer available. (Check out my CTMH website for the list of retiring items and already gone items).

If you don’t already have the Sarita WOTG stamp set, here are some great alternatives to create your own version the layout:

  • D1595 Cloud Nine (coordinates with the Artiste cartridge; only available until January 31 or while supplies last whichever comes first)
  • D1559 Geometric Backgrounds
  • D1544 Distressed Backgrounds
  • D1540 In the Background
  • A1121 A Blossom (coordinates with the Art Philosophy cartridge)
  • C1540 Hello Blossoms (coordinates with the Artiste cartridge)
  • D1586 Ivy Lane Cardmaking WOTG (coordinates with the Art Philosophy cartridge and available to order February 1)
  • E1027 Framework Alphabet (to stamp “Lots” where “In Love” appears)

Now is the time to go through your stash and create your own twist on the layout, thinking outside the box and using materials on hand.
If you want to think outside the box with me…create your own version of the layout and bring it to my Open House on this Sunday (see my Open House post for details) or send me an picture of your creation and I’ll post all entries, with prized awarded…

I plan to join the Pajama Party Thursday, and I hope to see you there!

Crush Book Giveaway!

From Jeanette Lynton, CEO of Close To My Heart:

I’ve been told I’m a pack rat, but I know better—I’m a scrapbooker! There are so many precious little pieces of life that I want to hold onto for as long as I can, and all too easily those pieces get lost in the depths of a dresser drawer, between the pages of a thick novel, or (worst of all!) in the recesses of my memory. Life is so much easier to document if I do it as it takes place. I know many of you feel the same way.

With the My Crush™ books, new from Close To My Heart, I have a fantastic way to document those memories as they happen. Light enough to take with me anywhere I go, full of cute designs and with plenty of space for memorabilia and pictures, I know I’ll be keeping mine nearby.

If you feel as I do, and would like to win one of your very own My Crush™ books, tell me about the everyday memorabilia you want to save in a My Crush™ book. Post a comment here on Jeanette Lyntons blog, facebook or here on this YouTube video from now until Oct 31, 2013 to be one of 20 winners!
