Prickly Pear and Jack

It may be a bit past Cinco de Mayo, but I am celebrating FIESTA style using the new Prickly Pear papers from CTMH.  I’ve created six…. 6!… layouts from these papers, along with the stamp and thin cuts set featuring an adorable llama.  I used the “My Girl” complements instead of the Prickly Pear Complements to de-emphasize the whole cactus theme.  Luckily the “My Girl” complements use most of the same colors that are in the Prickly Pear papers so they work well together.   A sprinkling of Prickly Pear sequins adds a bit of sparkle to the bright, beautiful colors in this paper set:

 

 

I’ve also been working on outdoors adventure pages using the 4rth and final new paper packet: Jack.

and these two awesome layouts that I’ve CASED from one of my favorite page designers, Brenda Rose:

These layouts are perfect for my Memorial Day family camp photos!! I love being caught up on scrapbooking my family’s adventures 🙂  We have another adventure awaiting us as we complete the move to Illinois this summer.  In the meantime, I’ve returned to Virginia and I am cherishing every last moment in Virginia.

I’ve really missed my Virginia scrapbooking friends and I can’t wait to get together with them soon….!

Summer Dreams…

School is out for me in St Louis and our family is reunited in Virginia!!   I am loving the chance to get caught up on scrapbooking finally, creating sets of layouts for each of the paper packs in the newest Expressions 2 flyer:  No Worries, Dreamin’, Prickly Pear and Jack.  I’ve got the first two done: shown below and kits for either are available (including all pieces pre-cut, all cardstock, and all accessories plus instructions and pictures for assembling your own pages):

I wasn’t too keen on the idea of rainbows and unicorns at first, but I actually really liked  the way they turned out. Using colored cardstock for the base pages makes them pop!

 

The No Worries pages are more subtle gray, white and off white with blue accents and are terrific for summer beach or cruising pages:

Love, love, love these pages!!  I bought the thin cuts and stamp set for the beach umbrella and beach chair, etc.  They fit so well on these pages and I can’t wait to fill them with our summer photos.  My daughter and I are spending a week in Savannah, Georgia this month and these pages will be perfect!

Home for the Holidays…

 

Wishing you all a wonderful, peaceful Holiday Season!

This year was one of great change for my family.  I took a new job teaching at Principia College, moving myself and half our children out to the St Louis area, while my DH stayed behind in Virginia with the other half of our children.  As soon as the High Schooler is finished in June, we will all be together again, in our new home in Godfrey, IL.  In the meantime, I’ve remodeled the new kitchen, repainted most walls in the new house and tried to get up to speed on my new job.  All of which has left precious little time for my passion: paper crafting!    Now that I am “home” in Virginia for a month over the holidays I’ve been catching up on lots and lots of scrapbooking.

Here are the results of my efforts:

I will hold a scrapbooking/card making session at home in Virginia in January, so if you are interested in completing any of these projects, please let me know before Dec 31st so I can order the materials for you – they all expire on Dec 31st to make way for the new paperbacks that come out in January.  I can also make up kits-to-go if you would like any of these projects to complete at home.

My New Year’s resolution to get a paper crafting group up and running in my new “home” so follow this space for more fun projects in the New Year!

Florence in the Summer

Summer is finally here!!!  Happy Summer everyone.

The third new paper in the Seasonal Expressions II, Florence,  has the most gorgeously rich summer colors:  peacock, ruby, poppy, saffron and flaxen. They combine into a rich tapestry of reds, blues and tans in these elegant  layouts:

The Florence paper pack has a total of 12 patterned papers, so these pages use far more patterned paper and fewer sheets of cardstock. Two of the pages are cut apart cards in 4×6 and 3×4 sizes. I loved using these on the layouts as titles and journaling blocks. Additionally, I’ve used the kraft accents, rose gold foil tape as well as trendy blue, rose and gold sequins on these pages.

I’ve added extra sheets of White and Flaxen cardstock, along with stamped and thin cut images on these pages.

There’s Magic in the Air!!

The most fun new paper in the Seasonal Expressions II is Magic. It’s all the colors of Disney 🙂  Check out the red polka dots and blue , black and yellow patterns of Disney in these fun and playful layouts:

Aye Calypso!

Another one of the new papers in the Seasonal Expressions II is Calypso. I’m loving the trendy pink flamingos!!  The rest of the papers in the Calypso pack are tropical greens, blues, teals and yellows so the papers work even with “boy” pictures. Check out these fun and cheery layouts:

Regatta Pages

My daughter had the opportunity to participate in a weird but cool sport on the Potomac River last summer:  Dragonboat Regatta races!  Being small and light weight she was one of the drummers chosen to ride in the front of the boat and beat a drum to keep the cadence going for the rowers.  She had tons of fun and it was a eventful and colorful day:

When CTMH’s new Seasonal Expressions came out with a Regatta Paper pack I was really excited to create pages to feature last summer’s Capital Dragon Boat Regatta photos as well as our beach and summer photos. These papers are incredibly versatile and I love the nautical theme with blues and reds that fit all my pictures perfectly:

 

I still had enough paper left over for two single page layout (who doesn’t need those for the first and last pages in an album!):

 

The Regatta paper pack has a total of 12 patterned papers, so these pages use far more patterned paper and fewer sheets of cardstock. Two of the pages are cut apart cards in 4×6 and 3×4 sizes. I loved using these on the layouts as titles and journaling blocks. Additionally, I’ve used the elegant white ribbon with a gold thread down the middle and the blue Maritime Puffies to embellish my pages.

I’ve added 6 extra sheets of White and Glacier cardstock, along with thin cuts and stamped images from the Beach Days, My Anchor and Play Hard-Diving stamp sets on these pages.

Charlotte Pages

Northern Virginia came to a snowy stop last week as we dug out from under almost 30″ of snow and had 11 days off of school (counting weekends). I took advantage of the time to visit with my dad in California, and get some scrapbooking done.  I played with the soft and subtle Charlotte paper packs… here’s what I came up with:

The Charlotte paper pack has a total of 12 patterned papers, so these pages use far more patterned paper and fewer sheets of cardstock. Two of the pages are cut apart cards in 4×6 and 3×4 sizes. I loved using these on the layouts as titles and journaling blocks. Additionally, I’ve used the elegant black ribbon with a gold thread down the middle and the gold puffies in heart and “splat” shapes. Finally, the Charlotte complements and a handful of stamped images from the “Woodland Romance” stamp set provide finishing touches on these pages.

I’ve added 6 extra sheets of White and Whisper cardstock, along with ribbon and gold puffies and some white enamel dots.

La Vie en Rose….

Life’s often better viewed through Rose colored glasses…   That being said, CTMH’s La Vie en Rose paper packet was not one of my favorites in the Annual Inspirations book. I’m not a “roses” kind of gal and none of my kids photos really belong on Roses either. I did like the classic black and white with accents of red in that paper packet however, so I took it on as a challenge to create layouts I could really use and here’s what I came up with:

 

 

In the end, I loved the pages so much I ended up coming up with six 2-page layouts!!  In one of the layouts I swapped out the red accents for purple ones to match my photos, but the rest used the La Vie en Rose papers and color palette.  I embellished the pages with Picture My Life Overlay cards in Black, Gold and Silver, as well as Fundaments Assortments. The new clear Picture My Life overlays, with gold and silver accents really shine on these pages as well.

In fact, these pages are so versatile that if these baby images are left off entirely, the pages are nice neutral pages for a wide variety of photos! So even if you don’t have a new little one in your life, you might enjoy making these pages.

I’ve added ten extra sheets of White and Pomegranate cardstock, along with gold and silver foil tape and some red enamel dots.
